Boardskillz Supports SUP Punks Paddle Surfing Social

For those of you just at the beginning of your SUP journey paddle surfing might seem like a far off proposition but in fairness, with a little tuition, pretty much anyone can soon start riding waves after they’ve got the paddle boarding basics firmly in place.

Joe had actively competed in the British Nationals but with set dates offering up often sub prime conditions his interest over the last couple of years had diminished. Some might argue the wealth of young talent coming through the ranks may also have been a factor but many also agree that forecast-driven paddle surfing has to be the way forward if the overall level of competition is ever going to rival our friends in the USA and Australia.

We don’t all live in the South West and surely reef breaks had to offer some reliable conditions over what is often a lottery at BSUPA’s existing beach break locations?

A couple of weekends ago the Saunton Sands competition was cancelled due to un-contestable conditions so a last minute plan was hatched to run an alternative competition on the East Coast. Despite many already having ‘their forms signed’ to compete in the SW it seemed like family commitments, Easter and good weather would conspire against anything competitive happening but a few keener paddlers still wanted to meet up and get some practice in some reliable conditions. More of a SUP social than a comp but Boardskilllz were enthusiastic to support the SUP Punks first meet up and judging by the positive feedback from everyone who turned up it seems like a series will definitely fly with a bit more planning and notice for travelling paddlers.

Great weekend to be involved in and thanks to those who made the effort and we wish the SUP Punks every success.
