SUP Show Down on the Geordie Shore

Early heads up on Tynemouth's first ever SUP Event.....

Clear your diaries w/e 29/30th October. For those of you unfamiliar withTynemouth, it's the North East's surfing Mecca and is home of surf legends the Davies Bros. Just 7 miles away from Newcastle with a host of great restaurants, bars and accommodation it ticks all the boxes for the travelling paddle surfer.

The event will be hosted by main sponsor & local SUP School Boardskillz. A prize fund has been kindly donated by some of your favourite brands including wetsuits, paddles, board bags and other goodies. Any additional sponsors interested in getting involved get in touch ASAP. This will be raffled off amongst all those taking part as this encourages participation at all levels! There will also be some demo kit available to test drive over the weekend alongside board hire options for those wanting to take part without their own kit.

The intention is to run the majority of the competition on Saturday so that competitors can experience the delights of the Geordie Shore.

Vest/mini skirts and false tan are obligatory!! DJs and live music tbc.

Men's Wave Event - subject to some swell

Distance Race - brought forward from Sunday

Team Sprint Races (off the beach round a buoy) - new element

Freestyle Session - test your balance (prize for most radical move) - brought forward from Sunday

Accommodation

Depending on your budget there's everything from The Grand Hotel in Tynemouth to a caravan park & cheap B&Bs in Whitley Bay (about 2miles away). For those keen to experience Newcastle this is only 7miles away and is easily commutable by car, metro or even bus!

Evil Monk Party

Drawing some inspiration from Tynemouth's historical Priory we've decided it's only fair that we have a Halloween-themed Party so don't forget to pack your costume and sachets of tomato sauce!! The vampires, werewolves and zombies will be dragging themselves around the numerous taverns of Tynemouth Saturday evening before 'the hard core grave robbers' venture off into the Satan's Lair also affectionately known as Whitley Bay

Event definitely running Saturday 29th October (possibly Sunday too if waves arrive)

Mens entry (all elements) £25 on day (includes FREE kit use)

Ladies entry (all elements) £25 on day (includes FREE kit use)

FREE kids race (12yrs+ parental sign off required & must have own 5/3mm wetsuit)

Insurance

BSUPA members will be covered under their membership although we'll require proof of membership so don't forget your cards. Non members can either join BSUPA here http://www.bsupa.org.uk/join-bsupa.html or pay an additional £5 to cover you for the duration of the competition (all elements)
